Tired but happy

I've just got back from work where we have been having a day long celebration of the opening of the library. We started off with a Rhyme time followed by Story time. Thanks to Anne, Penny, Rosemary and, although absent, Vicki.
Jude, Felicity and Veronica kept the library open as normal while Lynda, Wendy, Chris and myself ferried food and displays across to the hall. Sally was kept busy getting the library looking perfect.

The next stage was the official opening. We all gathered outside and the local town crier gave a wonderful speech and the oldest library staff member we could find cut the ribbon watched by our youngest member Alex. As everyone entered the library they were all given a piece of ribbon commemorating the opening to use as a bookmark.

Mike was the first to speak and he spent his entire speech thanking everyone involved with the development of the library. He was followed by David, representing one of our partners in the project, and Eric chair of the Parish Council.

Everyone then trooped back over to the hall for refreshments. Local author Rebecca Stott gave a talk on her new book followed by tea and the finale was a talk by our own Chris Jakes of the Cambridgeshire Collection.

It was a very successful day which will be remembered for a long time.

Putting my toe into the water!

Hmm. I'm a very new blogger. I've been reading blogs for years but have never plucked up the courage to do my own.
Well here goes!
I'm a part time library worker and I share my home with my long suffering partner and Charlie the cat. I am a mother of 5 and have 3 grandchildren.

I am a keen knitter and have just started contributing to Ravelry.
